scanner not recognised

I have migrated to a new macbookpro. epson cx3900 working well but it has not recognised the scanner capability...so I cannot use the scanner. any ideas? I have downloaded a new driver ..no change. previously I operated the scanner from the icon in my dock, how do I get this icon into my new mac dock? ...
